The 2nd annual Black History Month Celebration was held at North Hennepin Community College on February 17th, 2017. Attendees from metro area high schools came together to take in the festivities and learn about African American Culture and History. They were treated to a songtress, a Rapper, an Intellectual Speaker, a discussion on Hip Hop history, and a DJ. Oh, did I mention the discussions on Career options and the Outstanding Soul Food lunch?

The purpose of the event was to:

  • Improve the understanding of black history month

  • Create dialogues around the theme of “diversity enriches community”

  • Gain young people’s perspectives on current events
